Chapter 14

Kandi

“Hello,” I answered.

“Hey Kandi, it’s me. I just called to let ya’ll know she’s ok. We will be back tomorrow. They want to keep her for overnight observation. Be on the lookout for Antwan and Jess tomorrow if we aren’t home by then. Don’t get nervous if you see a cab coming, it will be us. I had got a call from an anonymous number, a warning of some sort, saying someone cut the break line to the car. I don’t know who it was or why they are calling but whoever it is, is watching too. We just have to figure out who side are they on? Anything other than that, just keep ya’ll eyes open.” Donavan stated.

“Ok, I got you. I will let everyone know when they all come back.” I said and we proceeded to hang up.

Everyone was gone today. Momma left with Jim. B went out to get what we needed for our days to come along with taking the kids out for a movie since the watcher followed Dara and Donavan to the hospital. No one else was home other than Terrance, Bralynn and I. Since I put her to sleep, Terrance and I had a few beers on the patio, and sat back to talk. My body was calling and craving to be touched in the craziest ways, but my mind was on some chill shit. So I listened to my mind.

“So have you thought of any other plans after all of this is over?” Terrance asked.

“I have thought about a lot of things. Look, Dara is my best friend, my sister and I would hate to disappoint her, but it’s forever something wrong. It seems as if her past is always haunting us and I can’t afford to lose my life not now, not ever for my baby’s sake. So, I would have to say, yes I have thought about it. I need to take my baby and move elsewhere away from all of the bull. I know D won’t be mad because she will know my reasons behind it all. She just knows that she won’t be there to protect us if I do leave, even though she knows I can handle myself.” I responded.

“I feel you. Where would you go?” He asked.

“I don’t know yet. I haven’t settled on one place. I was thinking Florida, Georgia, or Texas maybe Dallas or Houston if I go there. I haven’t given the places much thought, but I will figure it out when the time comes. Why are you asking me all of these questions?” I asked.

“Look Kandi, real talk. D is my girl and all but she is bringing too much drama to our lives. I might not be as close to her as you are, but I love her to death like a sister. To tell you the truth tho’, the only real reason why I came here was because you were coming and you needed me more than she did.
